Tiago Machado, born in 1981, started playing guitar at the age of 14 as a self-taught person and at the age of 19 he entered the Centro de Cultura Musical de Santo Tirso where he had as professor Óscar Flecha.
Graduated in Classical Guitar by the Conservatory by the Superior of Music of Vigo, he taught Classical Guitar at the Music Academy of Viana do Castelo between 2009 and 2015.
Throughout these years, he took improvement courses with Aniello Desiderio, Margarita Escarpa, Xue Fei Yang, Tomás Camacho, Ken Murray, Ricardo Barceló, Uwe Kropinski Carlos Pérez, Victor Villadangos, among others.
He was awarded in 2007 and 2008 with the 2nd Prize in the Instrument and Song contest carried out by the Centro de Cultura Musical.
Parallel to the study of Classical Guitar, Tiago Machado developed a taste for improvisation and composition, being one of the main composers of the group “Gnomon”, fusion music, with three edited albums, and of the "Hot Air Balloon" nominated for the Independent Music Awards in New York in 2016, with his first album released.
In addition to his activity as a musician, he is the Director and Programmer of the Jazz Festival at Caixa, where great names of Portuguese and Galician Jazz have passed.
